Standing Before God

"When I stand before God at the end of my life I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say,  "I used everything you gave me.""   (Erma Bombeck)

LOVE this quote! God has blessed me with a gift of writing and has led my words and thoughts many times. I can just hope that I have followed what He intended. Currently, there are so many ideas - all excellent - flooding in that I'm overwhelmed. It's easy to get distracted by the different projects but I hope to do the best I can. If it doesn't honor God, then I've missed the mark anyway.

I've always thought that the utmost "good thing" to hear at death, would be "Well done, good and faithful servant."  followed by, "welcome" I suppose.... anyway, keenly aware of my own faults, I've considered that I wouldn't hear that despite my best intentions.  But this quote speaks to that; it's the writer's version, and perhaps why it spoke to me. It's the "You did the best you could with what I gave you" version.

I saw this jewel on Ann Gabhart's latest book page recently on the LCW group page. I've always loved Erma Bombeck - read her columns as a kid! But this is so true to what I'd say.

  1. After reading that quote, I thought about it awhile, then decided to put it on the blog.. Still can't get it out of my mind - it's that good. Speaks to me, to my goals as a writer, and in life..
